Volunteers who play a vital role in our House and the day-to-day operations could not be managed without their considerable involvement. We thank our 50+ volunteers who work in an assortment of areas within and outside the House on either a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. Every contribution is a valuable one.
Our statistics show that together our volunteers contribute approximately seventeen hundred hours per annum – an amazing effort!
We would encourage anyone who has a skill they would like to share or even if it’s simply that they want to give something back to the community to come and join our wonderful team of volunteers – our Neighbourhood House would benefit from your contribution.
Neighbourhood Houses are run by the community for the community, providing an essential foundation for civic participation. BHSNH is governed by a voluntary committee of management comprising of elected members who live, work or participate in our local community. This committee is an important part of our volunteer base, integral to the decision-making, evaluation, provision and direction of our House. It continues to work hard to ensure our financial viability and compliance with all legislative, statutory and contractual obligations and requirements (in addition to endorsing our strategic and policy framework). It meets on the third Tuesday of every month, delegating the day-to-day management of the House to the office staff.
Anyone is welcome to join our Committee. It’s ideal if you have just retired but still want to use the skills you gained while in the workforce or even if you are planning to return to work and would like to gain some skills. Being on the Committee means you learn about meeting procedures, working in a team, how to develop policies etc!
Please Contact the Office and find out when the next meeting is being held.
